Recap: Petrolia Pirates vs. Newcastle Bobcats
After flying high against the Northside Indians last Friday, the Petrolia Pirates came back down to earth. Petrolia was outmatched by Newcastle on the road and fell 55-21. While losing is never fun, Petrolia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1030th, while Newcastle is ranked 274th).
London Rodgers was Petrolia's leading scorer, having posted seven points.
Petrolia's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Newcastle, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Petrolia won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Wichita Christian at 11:30 a.m. on December 16th. Newcastle will be home for the holidays to greet Graford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Graford is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
