Softball Game Preview: Franklin County Rebels vs. Girls Prep Bruisers

The Franklin County Rebels will head out on the road to face off against the Girls Prep Bruisers at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Franklin County has given up an average of 8.1 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Franklin County is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Farragut on Friday. They came up short against the Admirals, falling 11-2.

While Girls Prep didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Bradley Central with a sharp 12-2 win on Friday. Considering the Bruisers have won four contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Sky Marshall made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Marshall was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Sydney Lawson was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Reyes, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Girls Prep hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in five consecutive games.

Franklin County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Girls Prep, their record is now 7-3.
