Baseball Recap: Wasilla Wins Going Away Against Lathrop

Wasilla won the last time they faced Lathrop and things went their way on Friday too. The Warriors blew past the Malemutes 17-8. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won four matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Aiden Perez and Camden Mette did most of the damage at the plate: Perez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Mette went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Mette a new career-high. Ramon Guzman was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.

The victory made it two in a row for Wasilla and bumps their season record up to 8-3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for Lathrop, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Coming up, Wasilla will be playing at home against West Valley at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Warriors are facing the Wolf Pack at the right time seeing as the Wolf Pack are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Lathrop, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on North Pole at 6:30 p.m. on the 15th.
