Baseball Game Preview: Carver Crusaders vs. Mashpee Falcons

The Carver Crusaders will challenge the Mashpee Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Carver managed to slip by Middleborough the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Crusaders came up short against the Sachems on Monday, falling 11-5. The Crusaders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Teagan Zakrzewski was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Mashpee and Upper Cape Cod RVT had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Rams on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Falcons have beaten the Rams on their field since May 23, 2019.

Gavin Lakatos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Michael McGrail, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jackson Carlson, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Mashpee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory got Mashpee back to even at 4-4. As for Carver, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Carver beat Mashpee 6-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
