Baseball Game Preview: Brazos Cougars vs. East Bernard Brahmas

For the second straight game, Brazos will face off against East Bernard. The Cougars will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Brahmas at 7:00 p.m. Brazos is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Brazos came up short against East Bernard and fell 6-1. The match marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

For East Bernard's part, Max Mangum made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Mangum has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brandon Rucka, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).

The victory was the fourth in a row for East Bernard, bringing their record up to 23-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Brazos, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.
