Baseball Game Preview: Ridgevue Warhawks vs. Eagle Mustangs

The Ridgevue Warhawks will challenge the Eagle Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Ridgevue came out on top against Kuna on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run sixth inning. The Warhawks were the clear victors by a 15-7 margin over the Kavemen. With that win, the Warhawks brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Preston Wade, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Forster, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Ridgevue kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Eagle faced Rocky Mountain in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Grizzlies with a sharp 9-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Easton Gothberg was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Carter Ditlove, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Eagle is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Ridgevue, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
