Football Recap: Ginger Younger's Menacing Defense Leads St. Edward over Rockford Auburn + How To Watch

The St. Edward Green Wave didn't have too much trouble with the Rockford Auburn Knights on Saturday as they won 24-8. Given the Green Wave's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Knights are ranked 173rd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The critical scores for St. Edward came from Jordin Sauls, Layla Talavera, Layne Dawson, and Savannah Lynch.

St. Edward didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. It was a group effort, with five picking up one apiece. Lynch got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The victory made it two in a row for St. Edward and bumps their season record up to 8-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 points in those games. As for Rockford Auburn, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coincidentally, St. Edward and Rockford Auburn will both be playing Westinghouse the next time they take the field. The Knights will head out to face the Warriors at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, while the Green Wave will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
