Baseball Game Preview: Petersburg Vikings vs. Southern Rams

Petersburg hasn't had much luck against Southern recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Vikings will welcome the Rams at 11:00 a.m. Petersburg will come into the match with an undefeated record on the line.

While Petersburg didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on East Hardy with a sharp 10-2 victory on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Southern lost 9-3 to Northern Garrett on Thursday. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Huskies recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Southern saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cade Leader, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.

Petersburg pushed their record up to 9-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Southern, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
