Baseball Recap: Carlsbad Finds Home Field Redemption Against Poway

Carlsbad's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to La Costa Canyon on Monday. The Lancers came out on top against the Poway Titans by a score of 2-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The win continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won seven in a row.

Benjamin Lopez looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Carlsbad's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Will Millett, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Millett a new career-high.

Carlsbad pushed their record up to 13-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Poway, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Carlsbad beat Poway by a score of 6-4 on Wednesday.
