Baseball Game Preview: Adair County Indians vs. Metcalfe County Hornets

Adair County has gone 7-2 against Metcalfe County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Indians will venture away from home to take on the Hornets at 5:00 p.m. Adair County will be strutting in after a win while Metcalfe County will be coming in after a loss.

On Thursday, Adair County needed a bit of extra time to put away Larue County. They had just enough and edged out the Hawks 4-3. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Bryce Russell made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayton Coomer, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Metcalfe County came up short against Hart County on Thursday and fell 6-3. The Hornets have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Adair County's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Metcalfe County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.

Adair County came out on top in a nail-biter against Metcalfe County in their previous meeting two weeks ago, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
