Recap: Pueblo Central Wildcats vs. Pueblo East Eagles

There's no place like home for the Pueblo Central Wildcats, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Monday. They walked away with a 56-43 win over Pueblo East on Tuesday. Given Pueblo Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Pueblo East is ranked 223rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Pueblo Central to victory were Ladamien Davis and Xavier Davis. Davis scored 14 points along with nine steals and five rebounds, while Davis scored 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Davis has scored all season. Luke Beltran was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds.

Pueblo East lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaden Garcia, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Izaiah Trujillo, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.

Pueblo Central's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Pueblo East, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Pueblo Central will head out on the road to take on Pueblo Centennial at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Pueblo Centennial focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five last Friday. As for Pueblo East, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pueblo County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
