Basketball Recap: Florence Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Kyle Nuss and Jaret Lozano

Florence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 53-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buena Vista Demons. If the Huskies were looking for revenge after losing 45-44 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Florence had strong showings from Jaret Lozano, who went 6 for 15 on his way to 19 points in addition to seven boards and four steals, and Kyle Nuss, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. What's more, Nuss also racked up three blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2023.

Buena Vista got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Hudson Wingo out in front who posted 17 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kaden Schell, who put up 16 points and five boards.

Florence's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Buena Vista, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Florence didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-44 victory against Rye on the 10th. As for Buena Vista, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 61-39 win against Sanford on the 14th.
