Baseball Recap: Eastern Comes Up Short

Eastern had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 3-8 to make it ten. They came up short against the Northwest Mohawks, falling 11-1. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Northwest, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Considering they have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Northwest's part, Chase Kingrey and Wesyn Lang did most of the damage at the plate: Kingrey got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs, while Lang went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Peyton Wolfe was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Looking ahead, Eastern will square off against South Gallia at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rebels have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. Northwest has already played their next matchup (against Chillicothe), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
