Volleyball Recap: El Capitan Comes Up Short

If El Capitan was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Mount Miguel on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Vaqueros took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mission Vista on Friday. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Vaqueros haven't been shut out since back in March.

Jacob Marquez paced El Capitan's offense, picking up five kills. Marquez really made an impact as he also led the team in assists with eight.

With the defeat, El Capitan broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-11. As for Mission Vista, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-12 record this season.

El Capitan wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against Foothills Christian on the 25th. As for Mission Vista, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Grossmont on the 25th.
