Trinity Lutheran is 2-7 against Milan since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Cougars will head out to take on the Indians at 5:30 p.m. Trinity Lutheran has given up an average of 13.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Trinity Lutheran came up short against Beech Grove on Saturday, falling 15-1.
Trinity Lutheran saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Whipker, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. Marissa Baker was another, earning one RBI and two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Milan had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it 11 on Friday. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 15-1 win. Considering the Indians have won 17 games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Kynadee Bode made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. Bode was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Nevaeh Carpenter was incredible, going 2-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mckenna Eaglin, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.
Milan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Milan's record now sits at 24-4. As for Trinity Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.
Trinity Lutheran might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from Milan in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
