Softball Game Preview: Lincolnton Wolves vs. West Lincoln Rebels

Lincolnton is 0-10 against West Lincoln since April of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Wolves will square off against the Rebels at 6:00 p.m.

In Wednesday's Canine Competition, Lincolnton didn't have enough. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Burns last Wednesday.

Lincolnton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tanlee Eley, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another was Brooklynn Johnson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.

Meanwhile, West Lincoln had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Wildcats.

Gabrielle Wright spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Stacia Cowan was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

West Lincoln hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 8-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Lincolnton's loss dropped their record down to 6-13. As for West Lincoln, their record is now 13-8.

Lincolnton suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to West Lincoln when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
