Softball Recap: Cape Henlopen's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Cape Henlopen put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against the Dover Senators as they made off with a 19-2 victory. The Vikings have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Senators, too.

Abby Marsh made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Hayden Hudson was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Bri Windish was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple.

Cape Henlopen hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters every time they've taken the field this season.

Cape Henlopen pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Dover, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Cape Henlopen will head out to square off against Decatur at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Dover, they will face off against North Caroline at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
