Baseball Recap: Minnesota Valley Lutheran Extends Winning Streak to Five

Minnesota Valley Lutheran hadn't done well against Sleepy Eye recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Chargers walked away with a 5-1 win over the Indians. The victory was familiar territory for the Chargers, who have now won five games in a row.

Joshua Vander Plas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaden Peterson, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Aiden Eckberg was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Minnesota Valley Lutheran pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Sleepy Eye, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
