Football Game Preview: Central Red Devils vs. Auburn Tigers + How To Watch

The Central Red Devils will venture away from home to take on the Auburn Tigers at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Central has given up an average of 28.7 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Central is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: IMG Academy, who was ranked first in their home state at the time (Central was ranked third). The Red Devils were dealt a 49-14 loss at the hands of the Ascenders on Friday. The Red Devils were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-7.

Despite the defeat, Central had strong showings from Bobby Coleman, who threw for 239 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt, and Tj Ware, who picked up 98 receiving yards and one score. Ware got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 80 yards.

Meanwhile, Auburn entered their tilt with Moody on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Blue Devils, posting a 41-7 victory.

Central better keep an eye on Cason Myers. He was instrumental in Auburn's win, throwing for 196 yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 151 yards on only 12 carries. Antonio Welch was another key receiver, gaining 77 total yards and two touchdowns.

Auburn was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 207 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Auburn didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Aiden Parker and BJ McGhee. Parker is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least seven every time he's taken the field this season.

Auburn's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Central, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 5-1.

Central came up short against Auburn when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 38-33. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
