Basketball Recap: Ag Denton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Van Buren over Alma

Van Buren lost against Alma back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Van Buren Pointers fell 51-43 to the Alma Airedales. That's two games in a row now that the Pointers have lost by exactly eight points.

Van Buren lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ag Denton, who went 8-for-15 en route to 16 points. Trenton Cooley was another key player, putting up 13 points and four steals.

Van Buren has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-17 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points over those games. Alma is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Van Buren didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-49 win against Farmington on the 28th. Alma has also already played their next game (against Siloam Springs), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
