Marlborough is a perfect 3-0 against Ayer Shirley since April of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Marlborough will host Ayer Shirley at 5:15 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Marlborough is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Massachusetts' top teams: Lexington, who was ranked fourth at the time (Marlborough was ranked 14th). The Panthers lost 3-0 to the Minutemen on Friday. The game marked the first time this season in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

Marlborough took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-18, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Ayer Shirley came up short against South Lancaster Academy last Thursday and fell 3-1.

While Ayer Shirley ultimately came up short, they really made South Lancaster Academy work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 25-18, 18-25, 25-21.

Ayer Shirley dropped their record down to 3-5 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Marlborough, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Marlborough took their victory against Ayer Shirley in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 3-0 score. Does Marlborough have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ayer Shirley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
