Baseball Preview: Lincoln Lions vs. Live Oak Acorns
The Lincoln Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Live Oak Acorns at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
On Saturday, Lincoln beat Silver Creek 9-4.
Lincoln got a great performance from Cole Stromberg as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 5.1 innings pitched. Stromberg has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lorenzo Collazo was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Graeson Wagner, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Live Oak won against Piedmont Hills on Thursday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. Live Oak beat Evergreen Valley by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-3. The win was nothing new for the Acorns as they're now sitting on three straight.
The team relied heavily on Casey Scannell, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one RBI. He has become a key player for Live Oak: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-6 otherwise. Jack Rice was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Lincoln's record now sits at 10-4. As for Live Oak, their record is now 5-6.
Live Oak's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lincoln hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. It's a different story for Live Oak, though, as they've only averaged .254. Will they be able to contain Lincoln's hitters?
