After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Washington, Spring Mills was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They never let the Martinsburg Bulldogs get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won 11 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Claire Wetzel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. Wetzel was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Allyson Selby, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Olivia Butler was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.
Spring Mills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spring Mills will face off against Berkeley Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Martinsburg, they will challenge Hedgesville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
