Kelsie Dunn was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kammie Thompson, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Medomak Valley faced Leavitt in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 13-3 win. Considering the Panthers have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kendall Wyman spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Claudia Feeley and Arianna Sproul did most of the damage at the plate: Feeley went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Sproul went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Feeley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kytana Williamson, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Medomak Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Leavitt only posted an OBP of .250.
Medomak Valley's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Erskine Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.
