Soccer Recap: Sheldon Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Sheldon gave up the first goal on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against the Laguna Creek Cardinals by a score of 3-1. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while the Cardinals are ranked 888th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Emmanuel Alvarez and Matthew Wildont-Tamayo scored all three of Sheldon's goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

Sheldon now has a winning record of 3-2-1. As for Laguna Creek, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Elk Grove the next time they take the pitch. Sheldon will host Elk Grove at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025, while Laguna Creek will host them at 6:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
