Softball Game Preview: Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm vs. Sartell-St. Stephen Sabres

Sauk Rapids-Rice hasn't had much luck against Sartell-St. Stephen recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Storm will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sabres at 5:00 p.m.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Sauk Rapids-Rice's offense. They fell just short of Brainerd by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. The game snapped a strange streak: the last six times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Meanwhile, Sartell-St. Stephen gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They blew past Sauk Rapids-Rice 12-2. The Sabres haven't had any issues with the Storm recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Marni Koosmann was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Koosmann was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
