Basketball Recap: Notus Drops Season-High Score on Greenleaf Friends Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Notus). They were the clear victor by a 69-44 margin over the Greenleaf Friends Academy Grizzlies on Friday. The score was close at the half, but the Pirates pulled away in the second half with 41 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Notus to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caleb Cudaback, who went 5 of 11 en route to 15 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Cudaback a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Derrick Huter, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 15 points and four steals.

Notus smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

Notus' victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Greenleaf Friends Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

After both having extra time off, Notus and Idaho City will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Notus knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Idaho City likes a good challenge. As for Greenleaf Friends Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Centennial Baptist at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
