Baseball Game Preview: Golden West Trailblazers vs. Porterville Panthers

For the second straight game, Golden West will face off against Porterville. Golden West will be playing in front of their home fans against Porterville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Golden West has three straight wins, Porterville has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Golden West is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with an 11-7 victory over Porterville on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked the sixth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Ethan Lopez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other pitching news, Golden West got a great performance from Connor Stephens as he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Stephens also tossed a walk, which is notable because Golden West is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 2-5 otherwise.

Back at the plate, Cadillac Pina was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Christian Cain, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

The win got Golden West back to even at 5-5. As for Porterville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.
