Baseball Game Preview: Monte Vista Monarchs vs. Steele Canyon Cougars

For the second straight game, Monte Vista will face off against Steele Canyon. The Monarchs will head out on the road to square off against the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Having struggled with nine losses in a row, Monte Vista turned things around against Steele Canyon on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Cougars 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Monarchs have posted since April 18, 2024.

Tristan Walker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

At the plate, Antonio Mccomb was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Damian Ordaz was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Steele Canyon dropped their record down to 6-12 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Monte Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 3-15.
