Volleyball Recap: Austin Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Allen

Austin faced Allen in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Maroons fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1. The match marked the Maroons' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Austin started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-22, 25-21.

Riley Malloy paced Austin's offense, picking up 19 kills. Malloy got some help from Nora Bettis and her 19 assists. Camille Presley controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Campbell Sheffield was the offensive standout of the contest as she had eight digs and two assists. Katie Wawersich also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Austin fell to 16-1. As for Allen, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 14-1.

Austin has already played their next game, a 2-1 win against Plano East on the 23rd. As for Allen, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Keller on the 23rd.
