Softball Recap: Switzerland County Falls to Brown County in First Game of Season

Switzerland County had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Brown County Eagles by a score of 4-3 on Saturday. If the Pacers were looking for revenge after losing 17-2 to the Eagles when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Bri Stow put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Stow was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Alaina Smith was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI.

Brown County pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Switzerland County and Brown County will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Pacers are set to face off against their familiar foe South Ripley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Brown County will challenge rival North Putnam at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
