Baseball Recap: Benjamin Franklin Continues Road Dominance on Thursday

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Benjamin Franklin and Chandler Prep had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Chargers blew past the Titans 11-0 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Benjamin Franklin got a great performance from Colten Stechnij as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Stechnij has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Benjamin Franklin let Jovanni Sanchez and Talan Speir run wild. Sanchez went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Speir went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Benjamin Franklin is 7-1 when Speir posts two or more runs, but 6-8-1 otherwise. Jacob Moran was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Benjamin Franklin pushed their record up to 13-9-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Chandler Prep, their defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-5.

Coming up, Benjamin Franklin will challenge Bourgade Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Chandler Prep, they will take on Gilbert Classical Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.56 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
