Baseball Recap: St. Mary's Sets Scoring Season-High Against West

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Mary). They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the West Wolfpack on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Nico Bavaro looked comfortable as he struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, St. Mary's got a massive performance out of Moses Alexander, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was David Haggerty, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

St. Mary's hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West struck out ten times.

St. Mary's is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. This is the second loss in a row for West and nudges their season record down to 4-7-1.

St. Mary's will have a chance to go back-to-back against West: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
