Baseball Recap: Medical Lake's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Medical Lake waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Reardan Screaming Eagles 23-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-3 on Wednesday.

Austin Michaud and Dylan Harris did most of the damage at the plate: Michaud scored four runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-3, while Harris scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Michaud is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Levi Brower, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-1.

Medical Lake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .703. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .667 or higher in four consecutive games.

Medical Lake pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Reardan, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.

Medical Lake and Reardan could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings. The Cardinals will square off against Freeman at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (138 vs. 13). Meanwhile, Reardan (ranked 163rd) will meet Chewelah (ranked 22nd) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
