Basketball Preview: Thornwell Saints vs. Dixie Hornets
The Thornwell Saints will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Dixie Hornets at 6:00 p.m.
On Monday, Thornwell came up short against the Wolverines and fell 27-19.
Meanwhile, Dixie scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind 55-23 at home. Dixie has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 22 points or more this season.
Dixie found their leader in underclassman Jaylia Turner, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Simpson, who scored eight points.
Thornwell dropped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.4 points per game. As for Dixie, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season.
Thornwell was taken down by the Hornets 36-5 in their previous meeting back in January. Will Thornwell have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
