Softball Recap: Dilley Has No Trouble Against Crystal City

Dilley made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Crystal City, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Everything went the Dilley Wolves' way against the Crystal City Javelinas on Tuesday as the Dilley Wolves made off with a 16-6 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Izabella Proctor made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Dakota San Miguel was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with three doubles, four RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Madelyne Proctor, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.

Dilley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .565. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crystal City only posted an OBP of .344.

Dilley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. Crystal City is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dilley will head out to face off against Hondo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hondo will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Dilley surely won't give up without a fight. As for Crystal City, they will challenge Natalia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Crystal City has given up an average of 11 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
