Baseball Game Preview: Odin/Patoka/Sandoval Eagles vs. Brownstown/St. Elmo Eagles

Odin/Patoka/Sandoval will head out on the road to square off against Brownstown/St. Elmo at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Odin/Patoka/Sandoval will be strutting in after a victory while Brownstown/St. Elmo will be coming in after a loss.

Odin/Patoka/Sandoval will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Webber on Wednesday. The Eagles blew past the Trojans 12-1. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won five in a row.

Drew Haines made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. He is becoming a predictor of Odin/Patoka/Sandoval's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is undefeated (and 2-6 when he doesn't). Haines was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bo Chapman, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Heydin Purcell, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Odin/Patoka/Sandoval was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Brownstown/St. Elmo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 10-0 to Dieterich.

Brownstown/St. Elmo's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Odin/Patoka/Sandoval, their record now sits at 5-6.
