Baseball Recap: South Fort Myers Comes Up Short

South Fort Myers fell victim to Imagine School at North Port and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sharks.

Fernando Valenzuela was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February.

South Fort Myers dropped their record down to 8-14 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Imagine School at North Port, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Fort Myers will challenge Dunbar at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolfpack are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Imagine School at North Port, they will face off against Community School of Naples at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Seahawks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Sharks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
