Basketball Recap: Cascade Champions vs. Summertown Eagles
Cascade and Summertown squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Cascade had to settle for second. They fell 42-33 to the Summertown Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 48-36 back in November of 2024.
When it comes to explaining why Cascade lost, don't look at Kaegan Young. Despite the final result, she posted 18 points and seven rebounds. What's more, Young also posted a 43% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in February of 2024. Lizzie Keele was another key player, putting up seven points.
Summertown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ella Busby, who scored ten points and three steals. Busby is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylie Blackwood, who earned ten points.
Cascade's defeat dropped their record down to 14-14. As for Summertown, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-4.
Cascade does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Summertown, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 54-49 loss against Loretto on the 5th.
