Basketball Recap: Jordan Vaughn's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Parkwood over Christ the King

Parkwood came up into this matchup off a tough 25-point defeat last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Christ the King Crusaders by a score of 41-39 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wolf Pack have suffered since January 30, 2024.

Parkwood lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jordan Vaughn, who posted eight points and ten rebounds. Vaughn has been hot recently, having posted ten or more boards the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Owen, who earned six points and five steals.

Christ the King got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Rosie Gorman out in front who had 11 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Claire Broda, who put up nine points and eight rebounds.

Parkwood has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Christ the King, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Parkwood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-39 defeat against Lake Norman Charter on the 28th. As for Christ the King, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 39-37 loss against West Cabarrus on the 28th.
