Softball Recap: Toms River North Takes a Loss

Toms River North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Manasquan Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-3 on April 8th.

Alexa Iovine spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Toms River North saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordan B, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Mikiah Ross also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Toms River North's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Manasquan, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Toms River North will host Barnegat at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Manasquan, they will be playing at home against Jackson Memorial at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.
