Grayson prepares to host a special TOC 2016-17 ceremony where the football team will be nationally recognized by MaxPreps.
MaxPreps is pleased to announce that the
Grayson (Loganville, Ga.) Rams have officially been named to the 12th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard, which is in its 12th year honoring football.
This is one of the most prestigious team awards in all of high school sports and it is an exclusive honor reserved for the top 100 teams nationwide. In order to be eligible, a team must win a state championship and be highly ranked in the
MaxPreps National Rankings. For football, only 50 of the country's best are invited and with nearly 17,000 competing varsity teams. This puts the Rams ahead of 99.9 percent of their opponents!
An early Sunday morning field goal by No. 10 Grayson's kicker Will Van Pamelen led the Rams to a 23-20 overtime win over the No. 8 Roswell Hornets for the
GHSA Class 7A state title. After trailing the Hornets nearly the entire game, head coach Jeff Herron and the Rams put together a late rally in the fourth quarter to force the late Saturday night matchup into overtime.
Grayson, the
No.1 early contender in the Georgia Preseason Football Fab 5 presented by the Army National Guard, captured its second state championship and first since 2011. As predicted, the Rams (14-1) finished the season ranked
No.1 in the state,
No.2 in the South Region,
No.6 in the nation, and
No.4 in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25.
These incredible season achievements have earned the Grayson Rams an invitation to the 12th Annual Tour of Champions.
Please join us as we celebrate with the football team, coaching staff, students and fans on Thursday, Jan. 12 at 11:45 a.m. during a lunch assembly in the gym.
