Football Recap: Southwest Georgia Academy Takes a Loss

If Southwest Georgia Academy was riding high fresh off their 40-3 takedown of Brookwood last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warriors lost 50-30 to the Atkinson County Rebels on Friday. The Warriors were down 43-22 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Darrian Roberts was his usual excellent self, rushing for 254 yards and five TDs while picking up 13.4 yards per carry for Atkinson County. That's the most rushing yards Roberts has posted since back in October of 2024.

Southwest Georgia Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Atkinson County, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southwest Georgia Academy will take on Robert Toombs Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Warriors' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Atkinson County, they will square off against Crawford County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 896 yards in their previous games.
