Basketball Recap: New Hanover Wildcats vs. Cape Fear Academy Hurricanes
New Hanover took care of business in their home opener on Wednesday. They took down the Cape Fear Academy Hurricanes 54-35.
Leading New Hanover to victory were Zirhe Sellers and Jazziyah Smith. Sellers almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds, while Smith went 5 for 7 en route to 14 points plus six rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Sellers a new career-high in field goal percentage (67%). Brianna Stanley was another key player, scoring eight points in addition to two steals.
Cape Fear Academy moved to 4-1 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
