Recap: Centaurus Warriors vs. Denver South Ravens
The Centaurus Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight defeat. They took a 54-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Denver South. Centaurus has not had much luck with Denver South recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, Centaurus still got an impressive performance from Ingrid Lorton, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Clara Halloran, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
It was another big night for Nevaeh Millard, who scored 19 points along with six steals and two blocks for Denver South. It was the first time this season that Millard posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Alex Gehring, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Centaurus has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Denver South, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Centaurus has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Mead at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. Mead is coming into the contest with seven straight wins on the road, meaning Centaurus will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Denver South, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Westminster at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (Westminster is ranked 119th, while Denver South is ranked 100th).
