Baseball Recap: Central Gets the Win

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Central and Notre Dame, and Central kept the tradition alive. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Bulldogs on Thursday. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 7-6 win the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2025.

Caden Chenoweth made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Chenoweth was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zade Hickey, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Jathan Spain, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Central is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Notre Dame, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-9.

Looking ahead, Central will take on Pattonville in a tournament on Friday. As for Notre Dame, they will take on Kelly at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
