Baseball Recap: Bishop O'Dowd Find Success

Bishop O'Dowd pushed their score to six the last time they played Pinole Valley, but on Friday they couldn't quite do it again. The Bishop O'Dowd Dragons narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Pinole Valley Spartans 3-1. For the Dragons, this counts as revenge for the 13-6 victory the Spartans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2016.

Benjie Sharman tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

At the plate, Bishop O'Dowd's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was John Teti, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Teti's first of the season.

Bishop O'Dowd now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Pinole Valley, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop O'Dowd will welcome Windsor at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Windsor has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Pinole Valley, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Justin-Siena at 4:30 p.m.
