Softball Game Preview: Lawrence Central Bears vs. Beech Grove Hornets

The Lawrence Central Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Beech Grove Hornets at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lawrence Central has given up an average of 8.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lawrence Central came up short against Decatur Central on Saturday, falling 14-3. The Bears have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Lawrence Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rebecca Radcliffe, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Radcliffe has hit this season.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Beech Grove and Triton Central, and Triton Central kept the tradition alive. The Hornets lost 9-1 to the Tigers on Monday.

Lawrence Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Beech Grove, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-9-1.

Lawrence Central suffered a grim 21-3 defeat to Beech Grove in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
