Football Recap: Magnolia Comes Up Short at Home Against Meridian Homeschool

Magnolia unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Meridian HomeSchool FLYERS on Saturday, falling 36-8.

Shelton Pace had an outrageously good game for Meridian HomeSchool as he rushed for 189 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per carry, and also picked up 55 receiving yards and one score. Pace didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made three total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Magnolia is headed away from home for the first time to face off against Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Meridian HomeSchool, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hebron Christian at 7:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
