Basketball Recap: Elkhart Comes Up Short

Elkhart lost against Stanton County back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Elkhart Wildcats came up short against the Stanton County Trojans, falling 70-46. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while the Trojans are ranked 49th).

It was another big night for David Crane, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds for Stanton County. Crane is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Corey Wilson, who posted 13 points.

Elkhart has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Stanton County, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Elkhart will square off against Lakin at 7:00 p.m. on January 28th. Lakin will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Elkhart surely won't give up without a fight. Stanton County has already played their next game (against Syracuse), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
